These Colorful Digital Illustrations Are Women in Full Bloom

Shae, aka She Is This, cre­ates col­or­ful dig­i­tal illus­tra­tions that are ful­ly in bloom. Her work fea­tures styl­ish por­traits of Black women that are among art­ful (and some­times wear) flo­ral arrange­ments. Each ele­ment is thought­ful­ly inte­grat­ed into the larg­er com­po­si­tion; some­times, flo­rals flow from head­phones while in oth­er instances, the blooms wrap around a fig­ure’s head.

Each piece is vibrant and beau­ti­ful to look at. And as Shae explains, they are intend­ed as empow­er­ing, too. “More than art for Black girls, ‘She Is This’ is a cel­e­bra­tion of women of all col­ors and beyond,” she writes. “I hope you not only see your­self in my work, but are remind­ed of how amaz­ing your brown skin tru­ly is. Because this skin, this skin is beautiful.”
