This past weekend marked the one-year anniversary of the historic Women’s March, and many people returned to the streets to continue to voice their opposition to the current administration. I enjoy seeing witty signs as much as the next person, but as another year passes by with the evil Cheeto, let the paper flowers of Grace Chin sustain you—to inspire and empower you in your efforts to #resist throughout 2018.
Grace creates delicate blooms from crepe paper and positions them in clusters around floral wire. In the center of her arrangements, she places hand-cut phrases like “I believe you,” and “Smash the patriarchy”. The beautiful papercraft is intended to be part of your everyday life. “I sincerely believe in the power of internalizing and imbibing positive messages,” Grace explains. “In particular, I’m in search of pithy, compelling statements that are meant to occupy primarily domestic spaces and serve as daily reminders.”
Grace sells her paper flowers wreaths online, and they are immensely popular. Follow her on Instagram to see when she’s restocking her shop; her posts are also thoughtful reflections on the world.
