Adventurous Soul Illustrates the Wild Beauty Found Around the World

Miran­da Sofro­niou finds inspi­ra­tion for her illus­tra­tions from her trav­els, nature, peo­ple, and ani­mals. These mus­es are expressed with a mix­ture of paint­ing, draw­ing, and col­lage. The results have effort­less look to them; you can almost feel the warm breeze of south­ern Utah and the qui­et tran­quil­i­ty of cows graz­ing in a grandiose field. In this way, Miran­da’s paint­ings are like post­cards you’d send to a friend—subtly brag­ging about the amaz­ing time you’re having.

Miran­da’s works, whose sub­jects span the globe, are in keep­ing with her adven­tur­ous spir­it. “In Novem­ber I decid­ed to quit my job in Lon­don and move to Mel­bourne, Aus­tralia to pur­sue a free­lance career,” she tells me. “I have been soak­ing up the sun­shine, forests, and beach­es, which help fuel my ongo­ing obses­sion with illustration.”
