Shortly after I found out I’d be moving to Minneapolis, Mandi Smethells posted on her Instagram that she’d be teaching a workshop at the Textile Center—not far from where I live. I signed up (back in May!) and the time has finally come for her class; it’s tomorrow. Take a look at her work and you’ll see why I’m excited about it!
Mandi creates rainbow art from wrapped fiber strands. Comprising both vibrant hues and subdued pastels, the jubilant creations are designed to hang on your wall or in some cases, be worn as jewelry. “I draw inspiration for my work from my two young daughters,” she writes, “and the experience of motherhood.”
Mandi sells her work on Etsy and shares work in progress on her Instagram.
