Fiber artist Juniper Wolfenbarger created an embroidered scene that is stunning in its use of technique and attention to detail. The cozy piece is titled inner comfort ii and features a sleepy kitty nestled in a floral-print blanket, a tiny deck of tarot cards, acorns scattered on the table, and a bottle of ink and quill sitting next to it. And that’s just the table! There’s even more to see; it tells the story of a dreamy, idyllic scene.
Juniper’s embroidery is a great example of how much visual depth can be achieved with a few basic stitches. Their work incorporates a lot of thread painting to bring the details to life, along with the satin and split stitches. Together, the techniques showcase how illustration and embroidery often go hand-in-hand.
