Look­ing to try cross stitch? If so, then take a look at Juneb­ug and Dar­lin. Mak­er Zoe Frost has cre­at­ed a col­lec­tion of kits and PDF pat­terns that are a con­tem­po­rary take on the age-old craft.

“My kits,” she writes, “pro­vide crafters with the tools to cre­ate heir­loom-qual­i­ty sub­ver­sive crafts by pro­vid­ing all of the sup­plies needed—from first stitch to frame. Each is designed and assem­bled by me, com­bin­ing nature, queer­ness, and polit­i­cal justice.”

Many designs incor­po­rate mes­sages that include short phras­es and words “Smash the Patri­archy” and “Fem­i­nist”  and “Be Bold.” Oth­er pieces fea­ture moths, flo­rals, and the Moon.
