Clothing is a huge problem for the environment. From the production of it to wear-it-once styles, there is a lot of waste that comes from the garment industry. It’s why I’m a big fan of buying quality over quantity. Custom clothing, particularly custom jackets, is a great example of this. Artists and illustrators take otherwise ordinary denim and leather jackets and embellish them with paint or other materials. In doing so, they transform the garment into an heirloom piece that you’ll hold onto forever and won’t end up discarded by the next season.
Here are some of my favorite custom jackets I’ve seen lately. They are a popular accessory for a wedding—nothing looks cooler with a wedding dress than a jacket! (I say that because I wore a faux leather jacket with my dress!)
