Artist Georgie Emery makes it possible for you to hold a butterfly in your hands. Typically, these fleeting creatures would be out of reach, but thanks to her lifelike embroidery, you can place them in your palm or wear them on your favorite jacket.

Georgie uses the thread painting technique to recreate the colors and patterns you’d find on a butterfly’s wings. The rich yellows and oranges, as well as the speckled white and black dots, are stitched with incredible attention to detail and celebrate the beauty of these creatures.

Georgie sells her work on Etsy—including patterns so that you can stitch your own butterfly embroidery! Follow her on Instagram to see what she’s stitching next.
