Tactile Ocean-Inspired Embroideries are an Textile Exploration of the Sri Lankan Shoreline

Ocean art by Helen Wilde

Textile artist Helen Wilde is known for her combination of three-dimensional elements on a flat embroidery hoop.  Previously, she created work inspired by terrariums. Her most recent pieces—featuring chunky yarn stitches and beads sewn on organza—are an exploration of the Sri Lankan shoreline.  Despite the difference of being on land versus sea, Helen sees it as a progression. “I started [my Instagram] with the embroidered gardens,” she writes, “and this is how they’ve evolved.”

Helen sells her one-of-a-kind pieces in her Etsy shop, Ovo Bloom.
