If you’ve lived somewhere for a while, chances are you feel some pride for that place. It’s why US state-inspired t‑shirts and jewelry are wildly popular. Celeste Johnston of Lemon Made Shop has created an embroidered twist on this trend with her state-themed hoop art. From the East to the West to the Midwest, she stitches a bold outline of the state and then decorates the interior with its flowers, fruit, and other defining features of the landscape.

Each state embroidery is made-to-order, and some of the florals don’t quite match up with the state. There was a person, for instance, that requested cacti stitched in the state of Pennslyvania. If you’ve ever been to PA, you know that the only cacti you’ll see are potted in someone’s home.

Celeste sells her work in the Lemon Made Etsy shop.
