I know it’s so cliche, but time really has been flying with the 1 Year of Stitches project. Month two is now a wrap! (Wondering what I’m talking about? Read more here.) As I look in the Facebook group and on the Instagram hashtag, I’m blown away by all of the amazing embroidery that’s in the works. Some folks have taken a figurative approach to their hoop and embroidered small scenes, while others create abstract compositions with thread.
This month, I’m sharing my own hoop (above) in addition to 10 other projects. Personally, I’m using a 12-inch hoop and trying to ride the fine line between figurative imagery and abstraction. I’ve also made a goal for myself in March, which is try out some new stitches. I’ve been stuck in the same ones for too long—the 1 Year of Stitches project is the perfect opportunity to experiment.
If you’re interested in starting the 1 Year of Stitches project, there’s always time to start now. The basic premise is that you make at least one stitch a day for 365-consecutive days. But that’s really it. Some days, when I just don’t have time, it really just is a stitch. And that’s okay!
